The Hong Kong Shopping Festival will offer over HK$1.9 billion worth of discounts across 5,000 retail and dining outlets, from July 1 to August 31, the organizer Hong Kong Retail Management Association said.
The event, themed "Enjoy Hong Kong Privileges ‧ Courtesy," will feature over 300 promotions distributed through 13 platforms, marking a HK$700 million increase in total discounts compared to last year.
Participating merchants include major chains such as McDonald’s, Café de Coral, Circle K Convenience Stores, and 7-Eleven, offering a mix of shopping deals and complimentary perks.
Shopping malls and department stores are also joining the campaign, with SOGO Hong Kong offering instant HK$30 discounts (excluding select items), MegaBox in Kowloon Bay distributing HK$30 dining vouchers, and ac mall in Aberdeen Centre providing HK$30 off for purchases over HK$300.
Other participating malls include Langham Place in Mong Kok, Citywalk in Tsuen Wan, Tuen Mun Town Plaza, and YM2 Yue Man Square.
HKRMA chairwoman Annie Yau Tse On-yee said this year’s festival will place special emphasis on boosting the "silver economy," with tailored discounts for senior citizens.
She noted that Hong Kong’s retail sector faces unprecedented challenges due to economic restructuring, global trade uncertainties, and a wave of store closures.
Yau urged businesses to collaborate across sectors and innovate to navigate the difficult environment.
Bernard Chan Pak-li, acting secretary for commerce and economic development, acknowledged the business challenges and pledged to continue to strive for more policies from the local government and Beijing to support the industry.

Discounts will be distributed through electronic vouchers via platforms such as AlipayHK, Octopus, WeChat Pay HK, WeChat Pay, BoC Pay+, PayMe, Tap&Go and cross-border transport provider TIL ChinaLink.
The festival will feature 368 promotions with a focus on elderly-friendly deals and tech-driven shopping experiences.
