The Hong Kong men's épée team secured a bronze medal at the Asian Fencing Championships held in Bali on Sunday (Jun 22).
This followed their defeat to Japan, with a final score of 43:45 in the semi-final round, as the tournament employed a two-bronze system.
The team, composed of Edgar Cheung Ka-long, Ryan Choi Chun-yin, Leung Chin-yu, and Lawrence Ng Lok-wang, demonstrated a strong performance by leading by seven points during the initial two rounds.
However, despite this advantage, the Japanese team staged a comeback with Cheung's loss of 3:12 in the final round.
Japan advanced to the final, while Hong Kong will face Chinese Taipei in the third-place match.
Meanwhile, the Hong Kong women's épée team was defeated by the Chinese team by 31:45 in the sem-final, resulting in a bronze medal.
