Heartwarming scene in Wan Chai as dozen bystanders rescue trapped victim after car accident

More than 10 citizens helped and rescued a taxi driver who was trapped under a car after an accident in Wan Chai this afternoon.

The accident occurred at around 1.09pm when the 52-year-old female taxi driver, surnamed Tsang, was crossing Harbour Road. She was hit by another taxi that failed to brake in time and was trapped underneath. 

Chu, an eyewitness assisting in the rescue, recounted hearing the woman let out a loud, pained scream, drawing the attention of numerous passersby. 

Chu said that around 10 people helped to lift the taxi and pull the injured out from the front of the car.

"Everyone called for the men to lift the car," said Chu. "About a dozen people gathered at the front of the vehicle and pulled her out." 

Chu recounted some people even holding umbrellas to shield the woman from the sun, depicting a truly heartwarming scene of citizens working together to help someone in need.

Tsang was conscious when rescued and was rushed to the hospital for treatment.
