In a swift response to the Trump administration's sudden revocation of Harvard University's international student visa program eligibility, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) has extended an offer to displaced scholars - unconditional admission with full academic support.
The unprecedented move came just one day after Thursday's US policy shift that not only bars future international enrollments at Harvard but forces current non-American students to transfer institutions.
HKUST's Friday announcement specifically addresses both enrolled Harvard international students and those holding admission offers, promising streamlined transfers and customized support.
“Diversity fuels creativity and progress,” said Guo Yike, Provost at HKUST. “We are prepared to welcome Harvard students into our community, offering them the resources and vibrant environment needed to thrive in their fields.”
The Asian institution has mobilized a dedicated task force to handle urgent priorities, including priority application processing, credit transfers, visa assistance, and housing arrangements.
“Interested individuals are encouraged to contact hkust-Harvard@ust.hk for personalized guidance,” the university said.
