The incident occurred at around 10am in the ground-floor establishment at 46 Tai Tsun Street, where flames and thick smoke were seen billowing out of the building.
Police received multiple reports, and firefighters arrived swiftly, deploying a jet and a breathing apparatus team to extinguish the blaze. The fire was later brought under control.
A female staff member and a female customer suffered burns to their hands and back, respectively, but remained conscious. Both were taken to the hospital by ambulance.
Preliminary investigations suggest the fire started in an unoccupied sauna room, possibly due to an overheated heating panel igniting the wooden materials inside.
The customer receiving a massage in the neighboring room and an employee were injured while escaping as flames spread rapidly.
The owner, Wong, rushed back to the scene to assess the damage. He said the injured included a regular customer and a technician, whom he plans to visit in the hospital.
The business, operating for six years, was in lease renewal talks with the landlord. Wong expressed concerns over heavy financial losses, adding he lacks funds for renovations and may be forced to close permanently.
