Parody appears to be lost on television viewers nowadays judging by the mass of gripes that followed entertainer Wong Cho-lam doing a takeoff of Chief Executive Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor on TVB.
Wong, who has pretended to be a variety of people over the years, made a play on Lam in the program Have a Big Laugh on Saturday. That saw him sporting a pair of glasses and dressing in a pink suit.
He was pretending to be conducting an administration press conference on Covid-19 alongside Billy Luk Wing and Louis Yuen Siu-cheung, who took on the roles of government adviser Yuen Kwok-yung and Chuang Shuk-kwan of the Centre for Health Protection.
Most of 250 complaints to the Communications Authority since it was aired on April 11 concerned perceptions that Wong & Co's skitting about were vulgar and insulting.
