The development will introduce an all-weather pedestrian walkway system filled with sunlight, designed to connect the entire Lee Gardens Area directly to the Causeway Bay MTR station. The walk, which will take about five to seven minutes, will be enhanced with convenient grab-and-go options and artistic installations, offering a sustainable and enjoyable route to Lee Garden Eight.
Systra MVA, a global transport infrastructure consultancy, has been tasked with designing the entrance and exit strategies for Lee Garden Eight, aiming to improve at-grade road conditions. This project includes the expansion of Caroline Hill Road and Leighton Road, anticipated to enhance traffic efficiency in the area by up to 25 percent.
The commitment to creating a well-connected community extends to targeted enhancements within the Lee Garden Eight precinct. These improvements will introduce a new retail hub featuring premium stores and outdoor dining options, as well as a vast 60,000-square-foot green space open to the public. This initiative aims to establish a new green landmark in the bustling heart of Causeway Bay.
Further streetscape enhancements throughout the Lee Gardens Area will improve both functionality and aesthetics, helping to shape a vibrant, self-sufficient community that merges office, retail, and lifestyle elements, thereby transforming the precinct for the future.
Ricky Lui, the executive director and chief operating officer of Hysan Development Company Limited, expressed the company's dedication to enhancing the Lee Gardens Area in Causeway Bay, where they have been established for over a century.
He highlighted that urban innovation and sustainability are central to their operations, with Lee Garden Eight serving as a prime example. This project integrates green building practices and improves connectivity by constructing an integrated pedestrian walkway system that links the MTR station to Lee Garden Eight and the entire Lee Gardens Area, thereby fostering a vibrant mix of work, leisure, and commerce in a more liveable and low-carbon environment.
Ricky Tsang, the executive director and chief financial officer of Chinachem Group, shared his enthusiasm for their collaboration with Hysan on the Lee Garden Eight project.
He noted that the project reflects their shared goal of enhancing city connectivity. The planned traffic improvements, including covered footbridges and better access routes, are expected to enhance the pedestrian experience in Causeway Bay significantly.
Tsang emphasized Chinachem's commitment to delivering lasting commercial, social, and environmental benefits, believing that this project will be a cornerstone for community success.
Chapman Lam, the managing director of Systra MVA Hong Kong, commented on their role as the transport infrastructure consultant for Lee Garden Eight. He expressed pride in supporting a project that prioritizes pedestrian accessibility and urban mobility within a dynamic cityscape.
