The government has requested that Cityline, the ticketing platform for the Coldplay concert, to handle the complaints "swiftly and properly" from mainland fans, who were required to exchange misprinted tickets in person.
As of Sunday morning, the Consumer Council has received 25 formal complaints regarding this issue.
In a statement released last night, the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau said it is "highly concerned" regarding the incident following an influx of complaints directed at the Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism's Xiaohongshu page from mainland ticket holders.
The fans have voiced their frustration over the financial and time burdens associated with the ticket exchange process, requesting that Cityline provide the replacement tickets via mail at no additional cost or reimburse the expenses incurred during the exchange.
The Bureau emphasized that the ticketing platform must "ensure that the experience of ticket holders would not be affected," while also acknowledging that Cityline has expanded its ticket exchange locations to include both Hong Kong and mainland cities including Shenzhen and Guangzhou.
In addition, Cityline will extend the ticket exchange period until the commencement of the performances, and affected ticket holders will be eligible for refunds for handling fees. The platform has issued an apology for the incident.
The much-anticipated Coldplay concerts are scheduled for April 9, 11, and 12 at Kai Tak Stadium, with an additional show on April 8.
