Hong Kong police arrest passenger for allegedly stealing 10m Vietnamese dong on flight from Vietnam

Hong Kong police have arrested a 61-year-old man from mainland China on suspicion of stealing 10m Vietnamese dong (HK$3,060) from another passenger during a flight into the city from Vietnam.

The force on Friday said it received a report of the suspected in-flight theft on Friday, noting that the victim had placed his backpack in the overhead luggage bin.

Police said the victim noticed his backpack being taken away by another passenger during the flight and the cash was missing when he retrieved it.

Officers stationed at the airport arrested the mainland traveler on suspicion of theft following an investigation. He is still being detained for questioning.
