The Hong Kong men's foil team won the first and historic gold medal at the FIE Foil World Cup on home soil.
Fencer Cheung Ka-long, Ryan Choi Chun-yin, Leung Chin-yu, and Aaron Lee Yat-long overcame the challenge of the Italian in the final to snatch gold last night.
The team narrowly beat Italy 45-41 after a tight game.
Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism Kevin Yeung Yun-hung congratulated the team on their excellent performances. "They have won the well-deserved medals, showcasing Hong Kong athletes' perseverance and team spirit."
The FIE Foil World Cup - Hong Kong, China was held from May 1 to 4 at the AsiaWorld-Expo.
