No injuries were reported after firefighters were called to a Tai Po building early Friday morning to investigate a large explosion heard by residents.
At 5.24 am today, a resident passing by Fu Shin Estate, Shin Mei House heard a large explosion with a rain of glass shards falling from above.
Some residents smelled gas and immediately reported to police.
Firefighters rushed to the scene and headed up to the apartment to investigate, only to discover that the fire had already been put out.
Fortunately, no one was injured in the accident and there was no need to evacuate residents in the area.
According to police, it is understood that the tenant of the affected unit -- a 50-year-old woman surnamed Wong -- was showering when the explosion occurred.
