A basketball coach working at a Catholic secondary school in the Southern district of Hong Kong Island was sacked after he allegedly engaged in sexual activity with a 16-year-old female student. Intimate photos were leaked online prompting a police investigation.
The intimate photos were posted onto an online forum on Thursday, with the photos allegedly showing the coach having sex with the student. The online post has now been taken down.
Responding to media inquiries yesterday, the Education Bureau revealed that the coach was laid off, and declined to identify the institution involved.
It expressed deep concern over the incident and said it had immediately contacted the school.
It is understood that the school involved has activated its crisis management team, providing appropriate intervention and support services to teachers, students and parents affected.
Meanwhile, the Police Force said it was aware of the incident and had reached out to the school for information, while requesting the online forum to remove all relevant postings.
The case has been listed as “publication of intimate images without consent” and no arrests have been made so far.
