The transitional housing project in Yuen Long held its ground-breaking ceremony on Thursday, which is expected to provide units by early 2025.
The project, at Lau Fau Shan Deep Bay Road, will be developed and managed by the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals, using land provided by New World Development.
It is set to build 1233 units, with 1123 of them being one to two-person units, 108 three to four-person units, and two accessible units.
Ho said the project will be built using the Modular Integrated Construction method and is expected to be finished by early 2025 at the latest.
Other than accessible units, all the units will also have small balconies and lifts, along with ball courts, multipurpose rooms, reading corners, farms, etc.
Secretary for Housing Winnie Ho Wing-yin, who presided over the groundbreaking ceremony, said that the transitional housing project has so far recorded about 12,000 applications, reflecting that there is a demand for the housing units.
She hopes that with the completion of the Lau Fau Shan project in Yuen Long, all units can be filled up immediately.
The housing minister also pointed out that the project is close to the bus station, making it convenient for residents to enter and exit, and the units have small terraces, which can greatly improve the living environment of subdivided housing households.
