A teen was found to have hanged himself in Tsing Yi this morning.
At 11.52 am, the 14-year-old boy was found hanging himself in an apartment unit at Cheung On Estate, On Hoi House.
His grandfather untied him and immediately called the police for help.
The boy was taken to Yan Chai Hospital for medical attention but was pronounced dead later.
The police found no suicide note at the scene.
According to sources, the 14-year-old boy, surnamed Cheung, lived with his grandfather and there were no medical records showing that he suffered from depression, along with having no conflicts with anyone.
His parents were not married, and his mother did not maintain contact with the deceased after she returned to China, according to sources.
It is understood that his grandfather asked him if he wanted to have breakfast at 10.20 am today, but he said no. The grandfather returned an hour later and found that the bathroom was locked.
He only realized that something was wrong after about 30 minutes as his grandson did not respond to him.
