Hong Kong will strive to integrate into national development and contribute to the development of the Greater Bay Area in fields of finance, commerce, shipping, and professional services, Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu said when attending a financial forum held by Sing Tao News Corporation on Monday.
The summit - titled "China's Macro Economy and Integration with the Greater Bay Area Forum 2023," gathered financial elites such as chairman of China-US Green Fund Xu Lin, vice chairman of All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce Qi Xiangdong, executive director and chief executive officer of China State Construction International Limited, to discuss how to deepen the cooperation within the Greater Bay Area and pave the way for a new chapter of development of the GBA.
Lee officiated at the forum and said the SAR government is grateful for the staunch support of the central government and the Shenzhen municipal government for developing the Shenzhen-Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Zone.
He added that the city will actively communicate with Shenzhen to promote the advantages of the Cooperation Zone under the principle of the 'one zone, two parks' and strive to promote a cross-boundary flow of various innovation elements, along with the development of an international innovation and technology hub in the Greater Bay Area.
He said another good news for the city is that the Shenzhen municipal government last week announced it will issue offshore Renminbi bonds in Hong Kong for the third consecutive year.
Lee encouraged the business leaders to cooperate and promote the development of GBA, invigorate the country through science and education, and develop a strong workforce for the modernization drive.
He also wished Sing Tao Daily a happy 85th birthday and looked forward to another milestone in the next 85 years while continuing to bring to the world good stories about Hong Kong and the country.
