Citybus and its sister company New World First Bus will merge on July 1, with the new franchise - Citybus Limited - saying that the move will enable the bus company to deploy its resources more flexibly to enhance existing services and introduce new services.
The bus company said on Friday that the New World First Bus (NWFB) logos on existing facilities are being replaced with the new Citybus logo, while NWFB drivers will wear tags bearing the new logo until they get new uniforms.
The NWFB Customer Service Centre at the Admiralty Bus Terminus can be seen sporting the new logo on Friday.
Speaking to the press, Citybus General Manager Roger Ma said with the merger involving over a thousand buses, the old NWFB livery on buses will gradually be replaced with the new design, while thousands of NWFB bus stops will also be replaced in the coming few months.
Meanwhile, when asked whether the merger will result in a fare increase, Ma said there is an established mechanism regarding the fare adjustment, and it has nothing to do with the merger.
