Goodbye time in wake of reshuffle

Fallout from the SAR administration's personnel reshuffle has moved down the ranks, with a political assistant announcing her resignation in a Facebook post.

The 31-year-old Pauline Yeung, who had served former Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury James Lau since 2017, said "it is now the right time to leave" and open a new page in her "personal and professional development."

For Yeung, the "right time" came just four days after Lau, 70, was replaced by Christopher Hui Ching-yu.

Twelve years older than Yeung, new secretary Hui sent his best wishes to his departing assistant, saying: "I am sure our paths will cross again. Before then, take good care."

The official announcement noted that Yeung was a researcher at Our Hong Kong Foundation before going into government service. She holds a bachelor's degree in public and international affairs from Princeton University.
