That's seen in the decision by TVB to cancel Miss Hong Kong 2020 for the first time in its 46-year history because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Given the quarantine rules, it's pointed out, it would be too difficult for overseas contestants to participate the event.
Anyway, the broadcaster did not want mainland beauties taking risks.
And if the event did go on, there would be challenges that would simply not look right in a beauty pageant. Like, could it be a beauty contest if contestants were masked?
And promotional events would fizzle without crowds, but that would be required under the four-is-the-limit rule.
