Haughey is the first swimmer in Hong Kong to qualify for an Olympic Games swimming final to be conducted at 9.41am today at the Tokyo Aquatics Center, where she will compete in lane five.
One of the shopping malls provided livestream of Olympic Games, apm in Kwun Tong, will open three hours earlier than usual and start livestreaming of games at 8am on its big TV at the atrium.
Some restaurants in apm will start operating at 7.30am so people can watch the swimming final after breakfast. There will be breakfast discounts, too.
Another Sun Hung Kai shopping mall, East Point City in Tseung Kwan O, will also livestream the swimming final this morning. It will then livestream the quarterfinal of badminton mixed doubles at 10.20am featuring Hong Kong athletes Tse Ying-suet and Tang Chun-man.
Olympian City in West Kowloon and tmtplaza in Tuen Mun, both Sino Group's malls, will open one hour earlier and start broadcasting the games at 9am.
Haughey has made history by becoming the first Hong Kong swimmer to cruise into the 200m freestyle final at the Tokyo Olympics yesterday.
The 23-year-old completed second in the semi-final of the match, as she clocked 1:55.16 behind Australia’s 20-year-old powerhouse Ariarne Titmus - who won gold in 400m freestyle on Monday.
