The remaining ten households in block 11 of Tung Chung residential complex Carribean Coast are yet to be sent to undergo quarantine after a woman living there was infected with two mutant Covid-19 strains, the Department of Health said.
On April 29, the woman, a 39-year-old domestic worker from the Philippines, was confirmed to have contracted the virus, for which her infection carried the N501Y and E494K mutations -- first found in South Africa and Brazil.
Around 400 households from the block have to be sent to undergo a 21-day quarantine as a result.
The department said they were following up on the ten households who disappeared.
They said some over 300 households from the block compark rising 1,120 residents had been sent to Penny’s Bay quarantine center, Lei Yue Mun Park and Holiday Village, Silka Tsuen Wan Hotel and Dorsett Kwun Tong Hotel to undergo quarantine.
