The Democratic Party says two of its lawmakers were arrested early today by police investigating last year's social unrest, including clashes at Yuen Long MTR station on July 21, RTHK reports.
Ted Hui and Lam Cheuk-ting were picked up at their homes at about 6:00am, according to posts on the party's social media accounts.
Both men are said to be suspected of offences relating to a protest outside Tuen Mun police station on July 6 last year.
The party says Lam is also suspected of rioting in relation to the July 21 incident at Yuen Long MTR station. That night, a white-shirted mob attacking people who they believed were returning from an anti-extradition protest.
An administrator posted on Lam's Twitter feed: "@cheuktinglam has been arrest. He is accused of rioting in Yuen Long on July 21 2019. The Police also accused him of conspiring with others to damage property and obstructing the course of justice in Tuen Mun on July 6 2019. He is currently in the Sha Tin Police Station."
Police have yet to comment on the arrests.
