Cut one-way permits, says Adam Kwok

Sun Hung Kai Properties executive directorAdam Kwok Kai-fai, who is on the standing committee of the GuangdongChinese People's Political Consultative Conference, proposes halving the daily quota of one-way permits from the mainland into Hong Kong from 150 to 75.

He made the proposal at a CPPCC meeting in Guangdong, saying only 78 percent of the quota is used.

Halving the quota of people who can stay in the SAR could reduce friction between Hongkongers and mainlanders, he said, and it would relieve pressure on local resources.

Additional measures should be introduced to encourage family reunions in the Greater Bay area, he added.
