Court rules ousted lawmakers have to pay back Legco

The District Court today ruled that ousted Youngspiration lawmakers Sixtus Leung Chung-hang and Yau Wai-ching have to pay back salaries and allowances of HK$1.86 million to the Legislative Council Commission as well as legal costs.

In November 2016, the High Court ruled that the oaths of office taken by both were invalid, and thus neither ever became lawmakers being elected into office.

The Court of Final Appeal rejected their final bid to challenge the ruling in August 2017.
