Media tycoon Jimmy Lai Chee-ying has pleaded not guilty to a count of criminal intimidation for intimidating a reporter at the Victoria Park in Causeway Bay on June 4, 2017 at the West Kowloon Magistrates' Courts today.
A three-day trial is scheduled to begin on August 19. Lai was granted a cash bail of HK$4,000 and he was ordered to not leave Hong Kong, live in the address he provided, report to the police every week and not contact prosecution witnesses.
Lai and veteran pro-democracy figures Lee Cheuk-yan and Yeung Sum also appeared at the West Kowloon Magistrates' Courts today for taking part in an unauthorized anti-extradition law amendment protest on August 31 last year.
No plea was entered today and the case was adjourned until May 18. They were each granted a cash bail of HK$1,000. Photo: i-Cable News screen grab.
