The fire was reported at around 5pm when large plumes of thick smoke were observed billowing from a unit at Wah On House, rising into the sky and clearly visible from a distance.
Firefighters quickly arrived on the scene and extinguished the blaze.
One elderly man reportedly suffered from smoke inhalation and required medical treatment, while approximately 20 residents self-evacuated to a safe location.
It is understood that the incident was caused by a washing machine that suddenly caught fire in the affected unit.
