Hong Kong kicked off the new year with 4.81 million visitors last month, marking a 1 percent year-on-year increase, according to the Hong Kong Tourism Board(HKTB).
The HKTB reported that the slight growth comes despite the later timing of the Lunar New Year holiday this year.
Among these visitors, 1.17 million were from non-mainland markets, reflecting a 15 percent rise compared to the previous year.
Notably, the long-haul market experienced significant growth, soaring from 280,000 visitors last year to 360,000 this January.
Short-haul markets, excluding mainland visitors, also saw an uptick, rising from 590,000 to 640,000 year-on-year.
Meanwhile, mainland arrivals dropped slightly to 3.64 million, down from 3.73 million in January 2025.
