The cable ride received an average of 4,850 visitors per day in 2025, increased slightly from 4,843 in 2024, according to the Managing Director of Ngong Ping 360, James Tung Pui-chuen.
Tung said average spending per visitor in 2025 rose by about 4.5 percent year on year. Spending on cable car services increased by around 1.5 per cent, while per-capita spending on non-cable car items increased by approximately 20.6 per cent.
Affected by severe weather and maintenance, Ngong Ping Cable Car operated for a total of 304 days in 2025, down 19 days from the previous year. Services were suspended for a total of 9,589 minutes due to weather conditions, an increase of 3,280 minutes compared with 2024, according to Tung.
Despite this, cable car reliability remained at a historic high of 99.98 percent, meaning that less than one minute of delay on average during an eight-hour operating day.
He also revealed that the company recorded a profit last year.

In terms of visitor composition, short-haul markets performed the strongest in 2025, accounting for 39 percent of total visitors, followed by the mainland Chinese market at 25 percent. Local visitors and long-haul markets made up 20 percent and 16 percent respectively.
Markets of Taiwan, the United States and the Philippines grew the fastest, with growth rates of 38 percent, 37 percent and 20 percent.
To celebrate its 20th anniversary, Ngong Ping 360 planned to extend its operating hours into the evening on selected weekends during the summer. At this stage, services are expected to run until 9pm, allowing visitors to enjoy night views of Hong Kong International Airport, the Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macao Bridge and the Big Buddha from high above.
Tung said that as many visitors have said that neon lights are one of Hong Kong’s most memorable visual elements, some cable car cabins will be lit with a neon-style effect. Neon installations will also be set up at Ngong Ping Village, which will host a 20th anniversary summer celebration with live nighttime music performances.
To thank Hong Kong residents for their support over the past two decades, Ngong Ping 360 will roll out a monthly promotion of back to opening price from March to December this year.
On one designated day each month, local residents will be able to purchase adult round-trip standard cabin tickets at HK$88, the same promotional fare offered when Ngong Ping 360 first opened 20 years ago. Further details will be announced later.
In addition, Ngong Ping 360 will also launch a series of anniversary merchandise and plan to set up pop-up stores in urban areas.
For the Lunar New Year period, Ngong Ping 360 will feature horse-themed photo spots and collaborate with a geomancy expert to promote lucky days for climbing to receive blessings.
On the second day of the Lunar New Year, a performance group that has previously appeared at the Mainland’s Chinese New Year Gala will stage Yingge dance performances, an intangible cultural heritage.
Local residents will also be offered a limited promotion with nearly half price on a round-trip cable car package that includes one Crystal Cabin journey and one Standard Cabin journey.
