Cold morning grips Hong Kong, temperatures dip below 12 degrees

Hong Kong experienced a cold morning on Thursday as temperatures fell to 12 degrees Celsius or below in most areas under the influence of the winter monsoon.

The Hong Kong Observatory said the weather will be cloudy during the day with a maximum temperature of about 15 degrees. It will remain cold at night. Moderate to fresh north to northeasterly winds are expected.

The outlook is for mainly cloudy and persistently cold conditions on Friday, with rather cool mornings over the weekend. Temperatures are forecast to rise progressively early next week as the monsoon is replaced by an easterly airstream.
