Three staff members from the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department were hospitalized on Thursday after being stung by bees during a routine patrol in Clear Water Bay.
At around 11.46am, a five-member AFCD team was hiking along the hillside near Tin Ha Shan on Tai Au Mun Road when they unexpectedly encountered a swarm of bees.
Three male officers were unable to retreat in time and were stung on the head, neck, and hand, respectively.
Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene, and the Government Flying Service deployed a helicopter to assist in the rescue operation.
The injured officers—aged 25, 44, and 57—were transported to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital. All were conscious upon arrival, though one required a wheelchair.
Bee-related incidents involving AFCD personnel have occurred before. On May 12, 2023, a 64-year-old staff member died after being stung multiple times while on duty along the Chi Ma Wan Country Trail.
