The Development Bureau is actively promoting the use of high-efficiency construction robotics in public works projects to save time, improve quality, and enhance site safety, Secretary for Development Bernadette Linn Hon-ho said.
Among these efforts, the Drainage Services Department has deployed welding robots and remote-controlled crane systems in the Yuen Long barrage scheme, nullah improvement works, and stage one of the Yuen Long Effluent Polishing Plant.
Operators input parameters to perform standard welding tasks and can control multiple welding robots at once, significantly boosting efficiency and improving working conditions.
Meanwhile, the Civil Engineering and Development Department has employed drilling robots in the Trunk Road T2 and Cha Kwo Ling Tunnel project.
These robots use laser scanning technology to identify precise locations, allowing them to drill holes and install anchor screws accurately in tunnel walls and ceilings while capturing dust produced during the operation.
