Wang Haibo, a student at Hong Kong Chinese Women's Club College in Sai Wan Ho, has made history by becoming the first "ultimate top scorer" in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSE) since 2018.
He described the moment he received a phone call at 7am revealing his achievement as completely unexpected and a delightful surprise.
Born in mainland China, Wang began his education in Hong Kong when he was just three years old.
Thanks to the support and guidance from his teachers, along with collaboration and note sharing among classmates, he was able to effectively prepare for the HKDSE without any private tutoring.
Yeung Chi-keung, the principal of the College, praised Wang's dedication to learning, noting that he continuously sought excellence even after mastering the material.
Known for his humility among both peers and teachers, Yeung added that Wang generously shared his study techniques with his classmates.
With a desire to give back to society, Wang aims to become a doctor, driven by his intelligence and compassion.
