A 16-year-old Hong Kong teenager tragically fell from the 5,276-meter-high Mount Siguniang in Sichuan on Monday (June 30), and local authorities have retrieved his body and confirmed his death.
The Immigration Department stated that it had immediately followed up on the incident through the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (CDETO) in Chengdu to provide appropriate assistance in accordance with the family’s wishes.
According to the official management body of Mount Siguniang, the teenager’s family members have arrived in Dujiangyan, Chengdu, and are expected to reach the site where the accident occurred.
A statement circulating online, which was issued by the local authorities, indicated that the deceased teenager had registered at the resort with a Home Return Permit.
His parents had enrolled him in an outdoor activity at Mount Siguniang, organized by a travel agency, and submitted a letter of authorization on June 28.
After completing registration procedures at the attraction, the tragedy occurred when he accidentally slipped and fell during his descent from the Second Peak.
Mainland media reported that local authorities immediately mobilized mountain rescue teams and medical professionals for an urgent search. Unfortunately, the teenager was pronounced dead when found.
The authorities expressed deep sadness over the accident and are currently making necessary arrangements while providing support to the family.
