Hong Kong singer-actress Karen Mok Man-wai has announced the cancellation of her homecoming concert in light of the tragic fire at Wang Fuk Court that has left the city in mourning.
In a social media update this morning, Mok's team shared that the concert "Karen Mok The Big Big Show – Hong Kong Homecoming – Limited Edition" -- which was set to take place on December 20 at Kai Tak Stadium -- will be called off as its inappropriate to hold a festive event amidst the community's grief.
Her team stated, "We understand everyone's mood has been deeply affected, and it is truly difficult to hold a show filled with joy as usual." They expressed regret for the cancellation and thanked the fans for their understanding, highlighting the need to focus on the affected residents and the frontline rescue teams during this challenging time.
Mok and her team also extended their deepest condolences to the families affected by the fire and paid tribute to the frontline rescue workers who have been working tirelessly.
"We stand with all Hong Kong citizens in offering our sincerest sympathies," they said, wishing the deceased eternal peace and the injured a speedy recovery.
