The Hong Kong men's football team will make history on June 10 when they play their first-ever match at the newly opened Kai Tak Sports Park Main Stadium, taking on India in a crucial AFC Asian Cup qualifier.
Kickoff is scheduled for 8pm, with tickets priced at HK$200 for adults and HK$80 for concessions, according to the Cityline ticketing platform. While the event page initially indicated tickets would go on sale Tuesday at 3pm, the Hong Kong Football Association later clarified that general sales would commence later this week.
Following initial confusion about ticket sales, the Hong Kong Football Association subsequently announced at around 4pm that tickets will be available for public sale starting tomorrow at 10am through Cityline.
Priced at HK$200 for standard tickets and HK$80 for concessions, each purchase will incur an additional HK$30 Cityline handling fee per ticket.
This landmark event will showcase Hong Kong's state-of-the-art 50,000-seat stadium, marking a new era for football in the city.
The match comes after Hong Kong's goalless draw against Singapore in their opening round of the AFC Asian Cup qualifying campaign on March 25, which extended the team's unbeaten run in Grade A international matches to eight games under coach Ashley Westwood.
India, ranked 121st in the FIFA rankings compared to Hong Kong's 154th, will aim to bounce back after their opening qualifier against Bangladesh also ended scoreless.
The Group C encounter carries significant importance, with only the group winner securing automatic qualification for the 2027 Asian Cup finals in Saudi Arabia.
The Kai Tak Sports Park complex, developed at a cost of HK$30 billion, features a retractable roof and world-class facilities, establishing itself as the city's premier sports venue. (Updated at 4.02pm)
