China pledges to improve social safety net, advance infrastructure projects

The State Council, China's cabinet, vowed in a meeting on Monday to improve the country's social security system and advance infrastructure projects, according to a readout aired by state broadcaster CCTV.

The cabinet called for enriching a multi-layered social security system, exploring new models for gig workers and improving housing guarantee measures for migrant workers.

It also pledged to advance the planning and construction of major infrastructure networks.
