Hang Seng Index edges lower at midday

Hang Seng Index edged lower at midday break.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index fell 309 points, or 1.25 percent, to 24,533 points.

The half-day market turnover was at HK$133 billion.

Tech gauge dropped 1.61 percent to 4,688 points.

In the mainland, the Shanghai Stock Exchange Composite Index was up 2.38 points, or 0.06 percent. The Shenzhen Stock Exchange Composite Index rose 1.17 percent to 15,712 points.
