China’s artificial intelligence star DeepSeek reminds the public that it has only three official accounts and hasn’t issued any cryptocurrencies, as fake information and scams in the name of the startup are emerging.
DeepSeek released a notice yesterday that it has set up official accounts only in WeChat, X, and Xiaohongshu and will only make announcements on these channels.
The AI chatbot developer added that all other accounts and those in the name of its founder Liang Wenfeng are fake.
Besides, DeepSeek has set up only one official group in WeChat in mainland China and all charges that are claimed to be related to its group are fraudulent.
In addition, DeepSeek responded in a comment under its notice that it hasn’t issued any cryptocurrencies.
Cybersecurity firm Qi An Xin Technology said today that it found 2,650 websites imitating DeepSeek that appeared between December 1, 2024, and February 3, 2025.
Moreover, Qi An Xin found “air currency” that is said to be supported by DeepSeek and websites even claimed to be able to buy DeepSeek's internal original shares.
