Perhaps it’s time to broaden our horizons and embark on a journey to a continent we’ve never explored before - South America.
When it comes to South America, many Hongkongers may not be familiar with the countries in this region. However, what’s fascinating is that South America boasts a highly diverse geographical landscape. You can find deserts, rugged mountain ranges, colossal waterfalls, and even glaciers!
As the energetic Argentine accordion music fills the room, dancers allow themselves to be swept away by the melody, enthusiastically performing a breathtaking Tango. July 9 marked Argentina’s National Day, and Argentinians in Hong Kong gathered to celebrate this joyous national occasion.
This year, the Consulate General of Argentina and other distinguished guests were invited by Miramar Travel to a cocktail reception and press conference.
To cater to the ever-adventurous spirit of Hongkongers, Miramar Travel has launched a series of tours to explore the captivating continent of South America.
One of the sought-after destinations is Argentina. Miramar Travel’s tour to Argentina combines visits to two of Argentina’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites - the Perito Moreno Glacier and the Iguazu Falls.
The Perito Moreno Glacier, which is part of a larger ice field comprising 47 glaciers, is one of the largest glacial systems in the world, apart from those in Antarctica and Greenland. If you take a boat ride with the tour to get up close to the glacier, you might be lucky enough to hear the sound of the glacier rupturing and ice chunks falling into the lake, an extremely impressive and awe-inspiring sight. With the refraction and reflection of sunlight in the lake, you’ll find the glacier glowing in a beautiful blue hue.
The Iguazu Falls, composed of 275 large and small waterfalls or rapids, is one of the world’s largest waterfalls. The tour will involve taking a small train through the national park to observe the most impressive section of the waterfalls up close. A rubber raft will then take you to the edge of the thundering waterfalls to fully experience the power of this natural wonder. Designated tour groups will even have the special arrangement to take a helicopter ride to observe the unparalleled waterfalls from a different aerial perspective.
The tour will also visit major landmarks in the capital city of Buenos Aires, such as the colorful houses in La Boca, the renowned July 9 Avenue, and the National Congress Building. You surely will not want to miss the opportunity to witness a famous tango dance performance and enjoy Argentine steaks as well!
Alex Lee, Miramar Travel’s General Manager, shared that in recent years, there has been a surge in the popularity of South American travel.
“We have been organizing South American tours for many years, and the number of participants has been steadily increasing year after year.” He believed that this is primarily due to the convenience of airline networks, such as Emirates Airlines’ flights via Dubai to South America, and South American Airlines’ extensive domestic network across the region, making travel to South American countries more accessible and affordable than ever before.
“We believe this trend will continue. The tour participants are also becoming younger, as they aspire to explore the unique South American ambiance and culture, a must-visit destination for a lifetime!” he said while smiling.
