Lotus, the iconic British supercar brand, made a return to Hong Kong in November with the grand opening of its new flagship store in Wan Chai. This highly anticipated event introduced the awe-inspiring Eletre car series, embodying an all-new-all-electric lifestyle.
Lotus Eletre represents the brand’s bold and forward-thinking Hyper SUV, and is now available in the Hong Kong market with three distinct models: the Eletre, Eletre S, and Eletre R.
Under the One-for-One Replacement scheme, the prices of the three models start at HK$1,498,800, HK$1,698,800 and HK$2,198,800 respectively. To take advantage of this scheme, according to the agent, an order placed promptly can ensure customers with their desired model available before the scheme’s expiration at the end of March next year.
Embracing Lotus’ proprietary Electric Premium Architecture EV platform and 800V powertrain technology, all three models of the Eletre are equipped with a robust 112kWh lithium-ion battery, advanced front and rear motors, and a dynamic four-wheel drive system.
The Eletre and Eletre S models boast an impressive horsepower output of 603ps, enabling them to accelerate from 0 to 100 kph in just 4.5 seconds. Additionally, these models offer a remarkable maximum WLTP range of around 600 km, ensuring an extensive driving experience. On the other hand, the Eletre R model takes performance to new heights, achieving 905ps in horsepower and an astonishing acceleration time of up to 2.95 seconds. Despite its enhanced performance, the Eletre R maintains a respectable WLTP range of approximately 490 km.
Benefitting from the leading battery technology, the Eletre series achieves exceptional power output while maintaining high efficiencies. When it comes to recharging, the ultra high-speed charging capability allows for the replenishment of 400 km of energy in just 20 minutes.
In addition to its remarkable performance, the Eletre R model boasts impressive dimensions, measuring 5,123 mm in length, 2,135 mm in width, and 1,636 mm in height, with a wheelbase spanning 3,019 mm.
Holding its British DNA, the Eletre series has an elegant and exotic look with active aerodynamics and a dramatic porous design.
Inside the cabin is a 15.1-inch OLED HD touchscreen integrated into the center console, providing seamless access to vehicle controls and multimedia features. Adding to the immersive experience, the Eletre series includes a built-in Unreal Engine virtual reality system. The vehicles are equipped with a premium audio system by KEF, boasting an impressive up to 23 speakers.
The interior of the Eletre series is adorned with the finest Nappa leather. The standard seating configuration accommodates five passengers comfortably. An optional upgrade is available for transforming the rear seats into separate electric massage chairs, resulting in a four-seat layout that indulges occupants in pure relaxation and luxury.
Katya Zavialova Hemsley, Head of Lotus South East Asia Pacific, revealed that the brand will launch the Type 134, a mid-sized electric high-performance SUV, and the Type 135 in the coming two years, according to the plan. Alongside the Eletre, and the brand’s former models Evija and Emeya, all the five models will complete Lotus all-electric line-up.
Founded in 1948, Lotus is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year.
“It’s not easy to make the switch to electric cars and SUV for a brand that has always specialized in sports cars and has a track record of Formula 1 success,” said Zavialova. “The most difficult part is to consider the acceptance of customers or brand loyalists.”
She emphasizes that Lotus electric sports cars, such as the Eletre, have been designed with future upgrades in mind. For example, the original car has built-in the highest specification LiDAR, HD camera and radar systems to cope with the future automatic driving assistance and other active safety aids.
