It stays true to the naming tradition of the Poseidon's Trident family while introducing a new wave of technology to the motoring world in Hong Kong.
Available now are three versions of the Maserati Grecale of the entry-level GT (pricing from HK$899,000), Modena (starting at HK$1,068,000) and the top-of-the-range Trofeo (from HK$1,498,000).
Following the design idea of the MC20 supercar, Grecale enjoys a facial appearance with a distinctive Maserati grille and flowing lines that create an impression of a wider front end, with a strong and oppressive feel to viewers.
The new model comes equipped with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, which is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.
The GT model boasts an output of 296 horsepower, while the Modena model features a higher-output version of 325 horsepower.
The top-of-the-line Trofeo features a twin-turbo V-6 engine with 523 horsepower. With this powerful engine, the SUV can go from 0 to 100 kph in just 6.6 seconds.
The Grecale Trofeo version provides the art of speed but it comes with a price tag to make it the most expensive SUV in its class.
Despite its high price, the Trofeo comes packed with a multitude of premium features that are expected in a luxury SUV. These include a power sunroof, 21-inch wheels with summer tires, 14-way power-adjustable front seats with heating, adaptive cruise control and genuine leather upholstery.
Adaptive dampers and an air suspension are also available. With the firm frame and the well-placed air suspension, the vehicle could keep relatively stable on uneven roads.
The Corsa driving mode may face problems with bumps in the road while the Comfort or GT mode will bring back the luxurious and comfortable experience for the SUV.
The interior design enjoys the traditional Maserati splendor with some high-tech vibes.
Apart from the elegant leather upholstery, the cabin has a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and a pair of touchscreens on the center stack. The upper touchscreen, which measures 12.3 inches, is dedicated to the infotainment system, while the lower 8.8-inch screen houses HVAC and other vehicle controls.
The front seats feature V-shaped patterns on the leather upholstery exclusively for the Trofeo.
The cooling system for the rear seats can be easily adjusted with the touch of a button, and the panoramic sunroof provides a sense of openness and spaciousness in the cabin.
Even the hour meter has an unmistakably technological design. They also switch to a power display when your phone is being charged wirelessly.
The vehicle also comes with Maserati's latest Google-based infotainment system, Sonus Faber 21-speaker audio system, 360-degree camera and active safety system, to name but a few.
