Sinopec begins output at southwest China's biggest LNG plant, state media says

A unit of China Petroleum and Chemical (0386) has completed and commissioned the expansion of China's first shale gas processing plant, creating the largest liquefied natural gas plant in southwest China, state media reported on Wednesday. 

Chongqing Fuling LNG, operated by Sinopec Chongqing Petroleum, a unit of the oil and gas major, brought its Phase II project online on September 13, doubling total capacity to process 2 million cubic meters of natural gas per day, according to Sinopec's news portal.

Following the expansion, the plant can supply about 440,000 metric tons of LNG annually to surrounding regions, state media reported.

Relying on gas supplied by the Fuling shale gas field, the Phase I project has delivered over 1.4 million tons of LNG to Chongqing and neighbouring provinces since it began operations in 2018, according to state media.
