The deadly No. 5 alarm fire at Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po has prompted an outpouring of support from Hong Kong’s entertainment community.
Martial arts superstar Donnie Yen Chi-tan donated HK$1 million to the Hong Kong Poverty Alleviation Association. On Thursday night (Nov 27), Yen also shared several emergency hotlines on social media, posting: “God bless Hong Kong!”
Actor Jordan Chan Siu-chun and his wife, Cherrie Ying, also donated HK$1 million to the Po Leung Kuk Charity Fund for the Disadvantaged. Ying posted on social media: “In these difficult times, we must stand together. This donation will support fire relief and post-disaster reconstruction. Wishing everyone safety and good health.”
Other celebrities have contributed as well, including Cecilia Cheung and Jackson Wang (HK$1 million each), Karena Ng (HK$30,000), Janice Man Wing-shan (HK$20,000), and Samantha Ko Hoi-ling (HK$20,000).
