The year 2024 marked a significant milestone for Christian Alliance International School (CAIS) as its Aquatic Centre was officially opened. The impressive facility is a part of the school’s campus expansion project, encompassing two major components: the Amenities Building (Phase IIA) and the Aquatic Centre (Phase IIB). The new buildings have infused the school with energy and purpose, featuring facilities that incorporate not only larger creative spaces but also thoughtful designs that speak to the school’s vision in an all-round education.
In November 2024, CAIS primary school students were the first swimmers to dive into the newly unveiled pool, an exhilarating moment that symbolized not just the opening of a facility, but the beginning of new opportunities for growth and development. The Aquatic Centre houses an 8-lane, 25-meter pool, designed to accommodate swimmers of all ages and skill levels. With water and air temperatures comfortably maintained year-round, the Aquatic Centre offers an ideal setting for students to develop swimming skills as part of the PE curriculum, and engage in water sports regardless of outdoor conditions. Underwater platforms are installed at one end to keep a safe depth of 0.7m, while the deeper end of the pool reaches 1.55m, providing a space for skill refinement and progression.
A major enhancement for the school, the Aquatic Centre is constructed to the standards of World Aquatics (formerly known as International Swimming Federation). The opening of the facility marks the completion of the school’s campus development project, reflecting CAIS’s vision to nurture the whole child through diverse avenues such as academics, spiritual growth, athletics, and the arts.
In 2024, CAIS was recognized by Alberta Education (Canada) as a Tier 4 international school, a leading-edge school that makes a difference for its students. Tier 4 is the highest excellence rating for Alberta schools, based on academic results that consistently meet or exceed the provincial average, robust educational programming for students, extracurricular programs that extend learning beyond the classroom, among other criteria.
Throughout the year, there are plenty of opportunities for students learn outside the classroom. In November, CAIS upper primary students embarked on overnight camps, with each camp experience specifically and carefully designed for each grade level. Through the camps, students build resilience and conquer new challenges they never thought they could, while gaining valuable teamwork skills, independence, and growing in character. From Grade 7 onwards, students undertake local and overseas service and learning trips through the school’s tailored Discovery Days programme.
A through-train school, CAIS welcomes students of all backgrounds. The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) is offered as an alternative pathway in addition to the Alberta (Canada) curriculum and Advanced Placement courses. Through its various educational pathways, CAIS continues to offer a transformative educational experience for children throughout its preparatory, lower and upper primary and secondary sections—one that encourages students to explore new ideas beyond the classroom.
