China railway prepares for 19m trips as Golden Week concludes

As the National Day Golden Week holiday drew to a close, China's railway network experienced a travel peak of an estimated 19 million passenger trips on Tuesday (Oct 7).

A total of 1,880 additional trains were scheduled to cope with the travel rush, according to China Railway.

The official ticketing platform showed that the top departure cities included Beijing, Chengdu, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Wuhan, Chongqing, Xi'an, Zhengzhou, and Nanjing.

The government has also enhanced train frequency on popular routes to meet passenger demand.

Additionally, the authorities reminded passengers to pay close attention to weather changes and travel service information, and to allow sufficient time for entering the station and boarding trains.
