According to state broadcaster CCTV, Xi toured the exhibition hall at the Urumqi Cultural Center, where the display highlighted the region’s development since its founding in 1955.
The exhibition was described as a panoramic presentation of Xinjiang’s progress over seven decades, emphasizing the transformation that took place under the leadership of the Communist Party and with support from across the country.
It illustrated how people from all ethnic groups in Xinjiang have worked together, overcoming hardships and persevering to achieve what officials called “brilliant accomplishments,” said the state broadcaster.
Xi’s visit comes as Beijing continues to underscore its narrative of unity and economic growth in the region, with the exhibition serving as a focal point in the anniversary celebrations.
