Shenyang Vocational and Technical College in Liaoning Province, China, has established the nation's first bathing and health management college, marking a significant step in integrating vocational education with the booming bathing industry.
The college was officially unveiled on September 4, with the Shenyang Municipal Authorities, the Shenyang Bath Industry Association, and the college signing a strategic cooperation agreement to cultivate talent for the sector.
This initiative aims to create seamless pathways for students, allowing them to enter the workforce immediately upon enrollment and secure employment upon graduation.
The establishment of the college is part of Shenyang's broader ambition to position itself as China's Bathing Leisure Capital.
As the first vocational institution in China to focus on degree-level education in bathing-related fields, the college has garnered widespread attention amid the deepening fusion of vocational training and industry needs.
According to a report, Shenyang leads the nation in the bathing consumption scale since 2024, with 1,354 operating entities, 49 large-scale enterprises over 5,000 square meters, and the largest facility spanning 100,000 square meters.
The national bathing leisure industry exceeded 380 billion yuan in transaction volume in 2022, growing at 15 percent annually, supported by Shenyang's robust upstream and downstream supply chains.
Known for the saying "Nationwide bathing looks to the Northeast, and Northeast bathing looks to Shenyang," the industry plays a crucial role in driving consumption, employment, and local economic growth.
In 2024, Shenyang outlined its strategy to become the Bathing Leisure Capital, backed by government support and commerce bureau initiatives.
The association highlights that the college will address talent shortages, enhance service quality, and promote Shenyang's bathing culture globally.
The college plans to collaborate with businesses to develop curricula and training bases, ensuring students gain practical skills for immediate job placement and broader career opportunities.
