A power outage at Terminal 2 of Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport caused disruptions to operations on Wednesday, resulting in significant delays for travelers.

The incident occurred at noon and affected the central area of the terminal, leading to the interruption of ground services. Witnesses reported a burning smell at the scene.
Backup power was successfully activated at 12.13pm, with partial electrical service restored approximately 10 minutes thereafter.
The main building of Terminal 2 remains without power, check-in counters located in the departure hall on the third floor are currently inoperative, while only the south and north extension areas are functioning.
Furthermore, the X-ray machines in the security checkpoint area are non-operational, necessitating manual inspections conducted by the Aviation Police Bureau.
Despite the outage, passport verification continues unaffected due to backup systems. However, to conserve energy, automatic verification services have been suspended.
Large crowds have gathered as passengers await security screenings, with numerous individuals expressing their dissatisfaction regarding the delays.
Airport officials have organized meetings to elucidate the situation and work towards restoring normal operations. Authorities are conducting an investigation to ascertain the underlying causes of the incident.
