Taiwanese star Vivian Hsu's husband has come to her defense, saying he trusts that his wife did not have an affair with singer Wang Leehom.
Sean Lee, who wedded Hsu in 2014, said Wang's divorce spat with ex-wife Lee Jinglei has seriously affected his family.
“I am pained by the speculations, smearing and insults against my wife Vivian Hsu,” he wrote in a statement on Thursday. “I will protect my wife. I believe in her.”
He said all speculations and online abuse should stop.
Hsu put out a third statement on Wednesday, saying she never betrayed her husband and had nothing to do with Wang's marriage breaking down.
She said it would be her last statement on the matter, and any follow up would be handled in court.
“I feel exhausted physically and mentally following days of criticisms and false accusations,” she wrote.
The actress said the controversy has made her realize who her real friends are, who still cared for her through the storm.
Netizens interpreted her comment to be saying she was not happy about Chen Chien-chou and his wife Christine Fan Wei-chi.
The couple had a gathering with Hsu and Wang earlier. After rumors ran wild on the mainland that the four had “4P” sex party, Chen and Fan sought Lee's help in clearing their names.
Lee ended up putting out a statement, clarifying that Chen and Fan did not have an affair with Wang. It left netizens speculating that Hsu, the only person Lee did not name, was the one who was guilty.
Lee also made another post on Instagram on Thursday, saying it would be her last one.
“For all those who are brought into the controversy, I am sorry. As for those who are involved, no matter who they are, they have paid a big price,” she wrote. “I hope everyone can return to their quiet lives... and there won't be online abuses anymore.”
She also responded to criticisms against her, saying she should not have made the matter public in order to protect her three children.
Lee said a person can only right his wrong after admitting his mistakes, and that she wanted to ensure her children grow up in a healthy environment.
