The ex-wife of singer Wang Leehom said the star tried to shut her up with a luxurious condo, after she accused him of hiring prostitutes and having sex partners in different cities.
Lee Jinglei sent an ultimatum to the Taiwanese-American star on Sunday, demanding an apology. She also criticized Wang of having lost all moral standards after he asked her to retract her accusations for a condo.
“Give you the condo and you tell the media today that your accusations were groundless. You've just been too upset, and not feeling well, so were not thinking clearly,” according to a screen cap she posted on her Instagram account, which she claimed was from Wang.
Lee started a storm when she posted a 5,000-word letter on her Instagram, slamming him for messy affairs within the entertainment circle and for having sex partners in various cities.
She claimed one sex partner took explicit photos with him after a Shanghai concert, and that at least one partner of Wang is a married woman.
Wang did not respond to her accusations so far, but the father of Wang put out a statement, accusing Lee of having planned the letter for two years.
“My son is not a scumbag... his children should not be told that,” he wrote.
The father said Lee forced Wang to get married with her pregnancy and that the singer had been unhappy throughout the marriage. The father claimed Lee threatened to “destroy his career” if he did not marry her.
In the divorce, Lee asked for compensation totaling hundreds of million Taiwanese dollars. She also wanted a house and her living expenses to be paid for – including two nannies, one domestic helper and a driver, the father added.
In response, Lee said Wang did not use any protection when they were dating, and that he said he wanted to have kids.
“If he (Wang) was unhappy for seven years, how would we have the second and third children?” She questioned.
Female stars are distancing themselves from Wang.
Singaporean singer By2’s Yumi Bai, who once took a picture with Wang after a Shanghai concert, reported to police to register a claim of defamation. “Gossip is a fearsome thing...Language kills,” the statement reads.
But Lee did not back down, saying in response: “Please give me the police’s contact information. I’ll provide the evidence. Thank you.”
Netizens also speculated if married Taiwanese singer Vivian Hsu is involved in the scandal, after it was reported that Wang went to her home for two gatherings.
“I did not betray my husband in any way,” Hsu wrote, as she called upon Wang to respond to the controversy as soon as possible and clear her name.
Hsu said while Wang joined her gatherings, they were participated by her other friends and her husband. She lived in her home with her family members, she said.
