Customs officers at Huanggang Port have intercepted a cross-border driver attempting to smuggle cosmetics, clothing and electronic devices into mainland China.
The driver failed to declare goods when entering through the passenger vehicle lane at Huanggang Port. Officers discovered 117 items including cosmetics, clothing, footwear, mobile phones and beer during inspection.
The driver admitted to transporting the goods for others in exchange for payment. Identified as a frequent border crosser having entered mainland China multiple times within 15 days, the driver violated regulations limiting duty-free allowances to personal travel necessities for such individuals.
Authorities confirmed the case involved a Hong Kong-mainland cross-border vehicle driver engaged in parallel trading activities.
